In the present context of global free trade and WFO regime, effective functioning of Quality Infrastructure(QI) such as Standardization, Metrology, Testing, Quality Certification and Accreditation has become quite has become quite essential. On the other hand, awareness in quality-related issues at all level has to be sufficiently enhanced and so are improved institutionalized cooperation, coordination and transparency among QI players. Furthermore, QI players need to practice the coordinated approach and concerted efforts to address all of these issues. Hence, it can be said that current QI system in Nepal still needs to be improved to keep all. These endeavors properly in place.

The SMTQ Forum Nepal, which is a non-profit, non-stock and an independent organization, is set up to address these shortcomings. Physikalisch ?Technische Bundesanstalt(PTB) of Germany has supported this set-up.
